The story
This piece holds one of my very favorite color combinations of turquoise, blue and white. I recently discovered a very good source for unusual stencils and the blue lotus flowers in this piece were made from one of them. I paint through the stencils then cut the flowers out to collage and layer on top the blue patterned canvas. The lattice pattern in the background was another find, and it was interesting to use one on such a large scale. The large white flowers are similar to Dahlias or spider mums and were intriguing to use because of their many layers of petals. Moxie is not used enough in today’s language! It was fun to add this unusual word to the title, suggesting the blossoms themselves have know-how, determination and courage to open so fully and brilliantly!
