The story
Wedgewood blue is the driving color in this piece. It’s that pretty gray / blue that is so soothing and calming. Many beach homes use blue as a base color in their interiors, so this piece can fit in many environments. Vertical compositions and shapes can be used in a variety of spaces, and of course the palm trees lend themselves to this orientation. The palm fronds are made mostly of silver and navy papers, and I added some pops of orange for fun. Blue and orange look amazing together as they are complimentary colors (which means they are opposite each other on the color wheel). The texture of the cloud paper is perfect to illustrate dimension in the clouds. In the trunks of these palms you’ll find many kinds of paper and some with small words. Can you see them? Flying seagulls always add life to my pieces, and with the sailboats cruising along behind, you can go fade disappear into the blue.
