The story
The timeless Bob Dylan song seems perfect for this tall palm. I painted the background, then layered lots of strips of metallic tissue papers over the paint, along with some patterned paper. When wet, the tissue becomes transparent and leaves only the shiny shapes over the paint. The variety of the dot sizes reminds me of small bubbles moving throughout the water. The sky is filled with music and prayers painted over with a light blue working as a backdrop to the long floppy fronds. In the trunk you’ll find many varieties of striped paper, music and part of words meant to encourage you. May this palm remind you to stand tall, soak up the sun and remember your roots, drink plenty of water and enjoy the view!
