The story
I made this series when I was studying at the Houston Fine Arts Museum’s Glassell School. This piece along with Love is Real and Waking Light are about exploring spiritual evolution and using nature as a vehicle to express pathways to the Divine. Nature is a great teacher, silently showing us we are loved, nurtured, and illuminated, and that beauty awaits and unfolds in its own season. The Sun is a common subject in these pieces, and I recognize the light being great sustenance both physically and spiritually. The love that we feel for others as these little birds suggest, can be like God's love shining through us, to them, and back around. Making this series was about reminding myself that I am a spiritual being having a human experience, and not the other way around! Shine the Heart, and let your light shine!
