Bonita Springs National is this weekend, February 11 & 12 in Riverside Park, 10450 Reynolds St., from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Big Kahuna — a cresting wave in layered cut papers, blues and greens, lacy white sea foam and hidden words tucked into the water
Big Kahuna

Big Kahuna

I've wanted to create a big wave for so long, and here it is… the Big Kahuna! What attracted me to making this is all the movement a wave offers. I was hoping to express the energy and power of the ocean through this big wave roaring as it breaks and cascades back down into the sea. Its crest is filled with intricately cut little paper pieces, and as it's rolling over it has sprawling and wild white papers. Its frothy bubbles and sea foam are adorned with small pearls. The water has a myriad of papers layered in all shades of blue, and if you look closely you'll find some inspiring words, Beach Boys lyrics, and even surfers out catching waves!
