The story
“I need to laugh, and when the sun is out, I’ve got something I can laugh about. I feel good, in a special way, I’m in love and it's a sunny day!” The sun has been a repetitive subject in many of my pieces, and actually The Beatles lyrics are often in my work as well. I discovered that they wrote and sung of the sun often, and their lyrics are happy! I’ve used parts of their sheet music many times for this reason. This piece has an unusual perspective from up above looking down, giving the viewer a more direct encounter with the sun. Bright beach umbrellas pepper the otherwise blue composition with little pops of color, and behind the sun is softly extending its brilliant rays and shining on the sea. It’s a good day in the sunshine!
