The story
This piece, originally named Art’s Maniac Marlin, was commissioned by a friend who is an avid fisherman in Galveston. Since it made such an amusing play on the old Rolling Stones song, I renamed the print. It was fun to make the giant splash coming out of that deep blue water that you experience when you are far offshore. It’s hard to describe it and harder to recreate it! Jumpin Jack is made out of paper, and its stripes and rigid dorsal fin have thin strips of paper collaged on top. Many stories have been told about the long hours reeling in one of these monsters, and the joy and excitement it bring when one leaps from the water. If you have a sport-fisherman in your family, they will surely appreciate Jumpin’ Jack Splash!
