The story
Beach umbrellas are to a coastal artist is like candy to a child. The bright colors and patterns on top of the sand and in front of the sea are like little jewels dancing along the coastline. The little bird in this piece is so sweet, and again as a symbol, I feel like she is bringing sunshine to this beach day! In my book Gulf Coast Collaged, I have a quote by James Barrie next to this piece that says “Those who bring the Sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” Similarly, the prayer of St. Francis says, “It is in giving that we receive.” So true! Here’s to the Sunshine you spread in the lives of others!
